From a dark burnt brown to white, her pelt is many shades. She has the dark stripes on the backs of her ears, a dark stripe in the middle of her head that travels down her spine and ends behind her haunches. The end of her tail is also dark. The dark stripe has some lines fading out into her tan sides. On her legs are dashes of tan as her legs get lighter towards the paws. White starts below her muzzle on her lower jaw and travels partway up her neck and goes down her chest to her white belly. The inside of her legs are also white. Her tail is lighter on the underside with some tan dashes towards her hindquarters and fades into the dark tip. With an upright shoulder and level back, her ribcage is also not much different from her waist, making her built for speed more than strength. Gold eyes and a black nose finish off her face.

Chiyo was born in a small pride, she ended up being the one picked on all the time. Her brothers were bigger and stronger, her sisters were more in mother's favor. So instead of finding some way to be noticed, she hung back in the shadows and did her own thing. Knowing that hunting would be a needed skill she threw herself into the hunts hard, pushing herself sometimes a little to far and stumbling. When she made those mistakes it was then she would get bullied and picked on by her own family.It just sent her deeper into her own shell. Her pride didn't live far from the reserve, but they were still dealing with people now and again. At the time she was just two years, but she watched her father hunted down and killed. They had been out on a hunt themselves and a jeep came flying up towards them. Some big shot with a big gun went of course for a trophy, the big male. He had been there only to wait for the kill, letting the lionesses do the hunting.

After watching her father die, Chiyo bolted. She didn't bother going back to her pride. The fear of men now deeply rooted in her heart, her only thought at that point was to hide. For the next year she roamed just outside of the reserve, unable to find a way in that she was willing to take. It was very lonely being by herself, but going back to her old pride was not an option by that point. After trying and failing at hunting one morning she spotted a jeep, it had hunters in it. Deciding she had no choice anymore she headed for the reserve, going in through the quarry. It was tricky and she didn't make it through without cutting herself on a few rocks in the process. Finally reaching the safe haven, she found the watering hole and stuck around there for the next few weeks before deciding it was time to figure out her next move.
