When she can, she likes to take time to watch the sun go down, and revel in the beauty that washes over the landscape. Kamaria enjoys a refreshing dip in the waters from time to time.[break] [break] Dislikes: [break] [break] Poachers: Having lost most of her family to trophy hunters and poachers, she has developed a seething hatred towards them.[break] Arrogance: This is a trait she finds horrible unattractive and will quickly let you know how she feels about it. She also wishes to be ever expanding her knowledge of plants and herbs, and would be thrilled to discover a new use for one.[break] Family: She longs for a family to call her own someday. [break] [break] Kamaria is keeper of a rare recessive genetic trait. The gene is a diluted version of the gene that causes albinism, therefore giving those who carry it anywhere from a light blonde, to nearly entirely white coat, while evading the red eyes commonly associated with albinism. Kamaria herself wears a coat of white flecked with bare traces of a blonde undertone in selective lighting. She is on the smaller side of average when it comes to her height, standing at 3.4ft or 1.02 weighing in at 295lbs or 137kg. Her body is lean and not heavily muscled as that of a skilled warrior. She is far better suited to speed than strength, and is quite happy to abide by the natural strengths her body is geared towards. Because of this lack of strength, and weariness to fight, her ivory coat is nearly pristine in nature, bearing no signs of battle in the form of scaring and hairless patches, or nicks and scrapes. The ivory tone is true across her entire figure, lightening to a pure white only under her stomach. Her tail is void of the characteristic brown to black tuft that most others carry. In place, the same ivory toned hairs as the rest of her, can be found there. Like all lions, she wears two stripes of white below her eyes, aiding her in seeing better at night. Her eyes themselves are pools of a chilling shade of silver, flecked with an incredibly subtle hint of blue. Though they are void of much colour, they are deep enough to find yourself lost within as they hold the secrets of her true nature and the beautiful lioness that lies beneath. [break] [attr="class","digicomp"]HISTORY [attr="class","digibody"]Father: Numair // Dead[break] Mother: Makaida // Dead[break] Siblings:[break] Lutair (M) // Unknown[break] Amaeko (F) // Dead[break] Mate: None// N/A [break] Offspring: None // N/A[break] [break][break] Kamaria's parents were two of the first white cubs to reach adulthood in the wild in a very long time. They came from separate prides in the Kruger National Park, and were brought together by a group of researchers, determined to see white lions roam the wilds despite the opposing views of many others, who claimed that white lions were so few and far between for a reason. That reason being that gene that causes their lack of pigment is detrimental. Not to their health, but to a vital point of their survival. Lions have developed the tawny coats they have to blend in with their environment. It allows them to be the apex predator that they have become. A white, or very pale coat does not provide the camouflage that they require, and because of this, their chances of successfully hunting are much slimmer than that of a tawny lion. Both Numair, and Makaida provided a chance for researchers to bring together two lions who expressed the recessive gene, and were guaranteed to pass it along to their young, and pass it along to their young they did. [break] [break] The pair's first litter of cubs consisted of two white females, and a white male cub. By the time of their arrival, Numair had collected 3 other females into his small pride, one of which was an unlikely candidate. Two of the females were young and healthy tawny females, and the third was a pale, though not completely white older female. To the humans, the choice was strange, she was well into her life, and would not bear cubs for the male. But to Numair, he knew he had chosen wisely in giving the healer a place within his pride. She was old, but wise, and well trained in the healing arts passed on from many generations of lions. The three cubs were named not long after their birth, the male bore the name Lutair, and the females Amaeko and Kamaria. The two other females bore cubs as well, one and two respectively, and all three wore the same tawny coats as their mothers. It was clear to the other females that Numair favoured the white children that Makaida had given him, and slowly became distant from the rest of the pride. [break] [break] As the cubs grew the divide between the pride only solidified, but still, their best chances of survival were to remain together, but all of that changed the day that their king was taken from them. Trophy hunters had been tracking the white pride for some time, their eyes filled with dollar signs at the sight of Numair. It was the dead of night when the shot rang out clear in the air. The females and their cubs awoke with a start to find Numair's form teetering in its place, blood staining the white of his coat on his side. "Run" he groaned, and fell. Stricken with fear, the pride began to run, though Makaida hesitated. She looked down at the still body of her beloved and her heart broke. "Numair.." she whispered and nuzzled his cheek. The three white cubs watched from a distance, their calls were soft but filled with worry as their mother remained by his side. The old priestess, Taiynara stood with the white cubs, pleading with them for Makaida to come with them but another shot pierced the air and she fell next to the king. Hoots and hollers echoed from the mouths of the humans who raced forward to claim their prizes. Helpless, and on their own now, Taiynara ushered the frightened cubs off into the night. [break] [break] The cubs were just on the cusp of a year old when their parents were taken from them. The two tawny females and their cubs were no where to be found, and so the three young white lions and their pale priestess were forced to face the unforgiving world alone. Taiynara cared for the three cubs as if they were her very own, but there was only so much an elderly female such as herself could do. They never stayed in one place for long, always on the move, always on the run. Without a large male to protect them, they were vulnerable to coalitions of wandering males, and other prides. Lutair, though growing rapidly, was still far from full grown, and try as he might, without able bodied parents to teach him, could only do so much. He did his best to be brave and courageous for his sisters, but the worry of losing them was a burden he carried in silence. Amaeko was a quiet, skittish creature, never straying far from the others, and Kamaria was calm and wise, taking after her mother, and Taiynara. She found great intrigue in learning of the different plants and herbs and their many uses. She studied hard, and did her part to help ensure the good health of her siblings. [break] [break] When the little lion cubs reached the age of two, and were no longer cubs but adults, tragedy struck again. A hunt gone south claimed the life of their timid sister Amaeko. Another pride had been stalking the same prey as them, and a skirmish broke out. Amaeko was caught in the center of it all, and her skittish nature told her to run, but it was no use. They surrounded her, and took her life while Lutair, Kamaria, and Taiynara looked on helplessly. They were but three lions against a pride of eight. Lutair felt Amaeko's death even stronger than the others for he could not help but feel guilty at not being able to protect them. That very night, he vanished into the unknown, never to be seen or heard from by his only remaining sister again. [break] [break] Kamaria was angry for a time, but grew to understand why he left. He was of the age that a young male would leave his pride anyway, and after so much loss, she could not blame him. And so, she and the elderly priestess carried on their way. Life was even tougher now with just the two of them. Taiynara was not much use hunting, so the duty fell solely to Kamaria. She did what she could, but hunting alone was tiring, and dangerous. They sought after smaller prey to avoid the perils of taking down large beasts, but that meant they needed to always be on the move, always be hunting to keep their bellies full. [break] [break] Time went on, and the pair of lionesses managed to scrape by and survive on their own for a time, but when Kamaria had reached the age of four, it became evident that Taiynara was not long for the world. She tried to hide it from Kamaria, but she knew better. She slept more, she ate less. Her body moved slower, and creaked louder. Her eyes and coat grew dull, and slowly too was her mind. Kamaria dreaded what was to come, but the circle of life stopped for no one. The day finally came when Kamaria moved to rouse Taiynara from her slumber, but the elderly female did not stand. Her breathing was laboured, and her body weak. "Sweet child lay with me." she whispered, and Kamaria did as she was bid, laying next to the pale priestess, gently resting her head on Taiynara's shoulder. "There is a land I have seen, to the west. A safe haven for lions to thrive. They are protected. No humans may enter. Seek it out. Stay safe. Stay alive." she whispered, her words slowly drifting away. Kamaria could not find words, and so instead purred softly and remained next to Taiynara until her chest became still. [break] [break] From there, Kamaria only had one destination in mind. She would seek out this sanctuary that Taiynara spoke of. The thought to search for her brother crossed her mind more than once, but if he had joined up with a coalition, or started a pride of his own, she would not be welcomed. Instead, she would go forth and start a new life of her own. |
