The water was rushing before him, heavy paws were on solid ground. The grown lion was just watching the moving water. His heavy grey tail twitched side to side before the large male moved into the water. Carefully he picked his way over the rocks at the edge. Wide paws pushed him forward as he had decided to cross the river. The water pulled at him. Beto's thick mane was heavy with water and trying to pull him under a little more. It was getting more relaxed with the rain so it wasn't super full today. With the water pushing him further downriver, silver eyes kept watching the bank and farther down the river. A large rock was in his current path. Despite his best efforts, the lion hit full on with the rock.
With a loud grunt he was now trapped between the rushing water and a large rock. Taking a second to collect himself, both back paws shoved hard from the rock, giving him just enough of a push to where his paws could reach ground again. Totally soaked he moved up the bank and out of the water. With his thick mane plastered against his neck, his big muzzle just looked even bigger. Spreading his paws apart, the male gave himself a good shake, sending water flying everywhere.
Moving back up closer to where he had entered the water on the other side, he headed for a down tree. With a simple leap he jumped up onto the log and began to claw at the bark, digging in real good to keep his claws good and sharp. He had crossed the river just to use this tree, it appeared nice and solid still and his claws had a good bite with each stroke. Done for the time being he laid down on the log, resting his head and looking at the river. Silver eyes watching the sun get lower in the sky through the reflection on the water, or at least as much of a reflection as the moving water would allow.
