These lands are where lions come to be free from the tyranny of man. Their familes are being hunted and killed for their skins, their claws, and for trophies. In the direct center of Africa, lies the Onyejekwe Wildlife Reserve. Poachers and Hunters are not allowed to hunt in these parts. Wild lions find sanctuary, raise up their prides, control land, and fight for territory expansion.
From the start of Onyejekwe Reserve, only one lion pride was formed. Dakarai was formed by King Akuma. Will you choose the life of a family, or will you reside all alone and wander the savannah?

It was right before the sun had awoken when Akuma found himself wide awake. He moved from the inner most dark portion of the den they all slept in. He was careful with each step, trying not to step on any tails, legs, or heads. He did not want to wake his family. If they chose to sleep in for so long, they could do just that. The large male moved outside and looked over the lands. A single drop of water fell between his eyes and slid down his snout. He lifted his head up to the sky and watched as more rain drops started to fall down on him. It was starting to rain. He was not too keen on the rainfall, but he knew it was essential for the lands to be wet. He moved to the neutral lands and headed for the watering hole. He was thirsty today and knew what he needed. His tail flickered left and right, staying in tune with each step. His silver eyes stared forward as he moved onward.
When he finally made it to the watering hole, he tried to find some sort of cover. The rain was falling heavier now and the drops were coming down larger than before. They pelted his head and he closed his eyes. He allowed a low growl to exit his mouth, showing disdain for the liquid that fell from the sky. Akuma moved to the edge of the shore and lowered his head to get a drink. As he drank the water, he could feel the rain beginning to pour. Well now he was stuck in the water. He chuffed and exhaled. He finished drinking and sat himself up tall and proud. The large lion moved towards the grassy area around the banks. He found a few close knit trees to lay beneath. He curled himself up beneath them and rested his head over crossed paws. He didn't want to go back to the pride and do nothing, so he'd rather do nothing here.
Not too far off, a lone lioness is slipping through the dirt, mind buzzing slightly, the smell of humans on her pelt. Adrenaline starting to wear off, she hardly even noticed the rain starting to fall at first, only noticing when the ground started to feel soft. It started to beat down on her harder and harder, not seeming to want to relent anytime soon. Letting out a sigh, Jin picked up the pace, trotting quickly as she glanced around for cover, nearing the watering hole.
The rainfall covered up most scents, leaving her vulnerable, unable to smell any possible bystanders, though they wouldn’t be able to smell her either. Dark eyes scanned the horizon, first seeing the watering hole before her gaze continued around and she spotted a large male taking cover under a cluster of trees. Body relaxing, she sauntered towards him without a second thought, just grateful to see another feline, lion or not.
Raising her head up, trying to present herself to him as she came closer, slipping under the trees with him. She didn’t seem to pay much mind to proximity assuming he’d correct her if she over stepped any bounds. “What is a stud like you doing out here in the rain?” She purred to him, leaning a bit closer, trying to get a good smell of Akuma, wondering who, if anyone, he’d be around. He was covered in the smell of a pride which confused her a bit. “Especially a king?” She wasn’t sure if he was or not, but assumed so.
Of all the water and the rain, he loved the sound of the drops hitting branches and rocks. The sound was soothing, and he was partially shielded from the rain. It wasn't too much of a bother to him. He watched as the rain forced the lake to ripple. Millions of tiny ripples grew as the water forced it to spring back up and all around. He hadn't noticed he had company until she was right there near him. She strutted towards him, slinking over in her ever so sleek form. His silver eyes immediately moved to her body and watched each muscle that he could see. She was a beautiful predator. She spoke to him, first complimenting him. Then she claimed she knew who he was. But it sounded as though it was a question. Was she unsure about her thoughts? Akuma smirked to her as she playfully flirted with him.
"I was thirsty and bored, so I figured I would come out here. See if there was anything worth my time." He spoke back to the other, also being flirtatious. "But I was not expecting the rains to be this bad, and by the time I realized it... I just decided to stay here." He looked over her form and sniffed her. She was not from around his lands. Was she from off the reserve? Was she living in the reserve but far from him? He was unsure, so he decided to keep it cautious. "Kings are not allowed to wander, where you are from?" He asked with a smirk. He was hoping that she would elaborate on where she was from, maybe give a name or something.

Pleased that he showed at least some interest and not chasing her from his lands. Taking another step around him, smirking as she watched his gaze study her movements. “Well if you’re bored, then perhaps you wouldn’t mind a little friendly company till the rain clears?” Continuing around behind him, careful not to step on his tail. She wouldn’t stop any advances unless he set a boundary for her. Stepping one leg over him, deep umber eyes studying his silver, eyes they seemed metallic in color to her. “Ah, so you are a king. Thought so which such a commanding presence as yours.” Sharing his smirk with a hushed voice to match. “Where I’m from? Nowhere special, but quite the distance from here. My home land wouldn’t be able to hold a light to your lands.” She stayed put for the moment being, taking the chance with such close quarters to study his physic further, not disappointed.
“Would you let me put a name to such a handsome king?” That was her way of asking for his name not that she didn’t enjoy calling him king, but figured it would be polite to ask. Shifting her weight forward slightly, debating if she wanted to move from her spot of now, tempted to lay down there, partially on his back. Muscles remained relaxed though, trying to keep him calm and friendly.
She moved closer to him and he could not help but to allow his smirk to grow. She was cautious around his limbs, which was good. She was not looking to stir up any trouble, not that he was really the one to be offering any. With her close proximity to his own, he could smell her scent even better now. It was sweet, but very different as he had noted before. If she claimed her land was far away from here, then perhaps she was from outside the reserve. He had never had the opportunity to go there, since his mother would never allow it. He was curious as to what was behind those walls. When her eyes met hers, his heart seemed to stutter. It was a strange feeling, not one that he was acclimated with. But he showed no signs that there was a change in feelings. He was on a neutral plain. "I see no harm in you joining me. The rains don't seem to be clearing up anytime soon." He lifted one of his fore paws and began to clean the fur between the pads. His sandpaper-like tongue moved through the dirt and grime easily, pushing it to the floor below. He even got a few bits of mud stuck to it, but he did not mind.
"So you are not from these lands? I have never been away from the reserve. My mother tells me there are far too many dangers, and if I were gone for too long, a coalition could take my pride away from me before I even knew it was happening. Even though I am a King, I am a prisoner in my own home." Not once had Akuma ever felt sad about being King. He quite enjoyed it. He was only speaking of deep thoughts he had kept for a long time. For all he knew, he may never see this individual ever again. "My name? Didn't your mother ever teach you it is unkind to ask a King his name? You should already know it." He joked as he gave a large toothy grin and a soft chuckle. He was not always this playful, but it was good to relax here and there and be silly. "My name, miss, is Akuma and I am the King of Dakarai. I do not control the watering hole.... yet, but I do plan to in the future. That way I will be able to enforce the no fighting rule during the dry season. And since I have shared my name with you, I will ask you reciprocate."

She shared the smirk with him, finally lowering herself down. Laying mostly behind him, she left the one front paw resting on his side. “Lucky me then. Seems I may be getting you all to myself for a while.” Quickly settling in near him, her gaze shifted out around into the rain drenched lands. Her interest returned to him once again the second time he spoke.
“You haven’t left even once? That’s such a shame! There’s so much out there to see. Guess I’ll just have to tell you about the world myself.” She purred, running a tongue over her paw. "My name? Didn't your mother ever teach you it is unkind to ask a King his name? You should already know it."“No, I unfortunately didn’t learn better.” A soft, huffed laugh escaped her as he chuckled. She didn’t really expect a king to be so relaxed, especially around a stranger, lioness or not. Her black tipped tail slid across the ground slowly, playing with his tail.
“King Akuma?” Tasting the name, letting it sink in before continuing, “What an interesting name. Never have I met anyone else with the same name and I’ve met quite the number of felines, both Lion and other in my travels. I haven’t seen any other males here though, only you so why wouldn’t you own this land?” She considered that thought a moment, but didn’t dwell on it too long. “My name you ask? It’s nothing special really.” Speaking in a bit of a whisper, leaning closer to his nearest ear. “Jin.” Leaning back again.
"I was wondering who the lucky one truly was.." he said with a soft chuckle. For the first time in a very long time, he was completely relaxed. He wasn't worried about his pride, he wasn't worried about his family. He was just a lion having a playful conversation with a lioness he didn't even know. "My mother forbade me to go outside the lines. She said that my father was killed out there and it was not safe for any lion or lioness to be out there. I have been curious even still, but I am not bold enough to go outside what my mother has required of me. Never a smart moved to go against your mother's wishes. Especially when she sleeps just feet from here you do." He gave a true laugh. It was full and deep. His tail flickered more with glee and he could feel her paws gently touching it and eventually her tail was resting against it as well.
She leaned in close and he pulled his head back to be close to her as well."Jin is not a name you hear all the time." He smiled to her and placed his head back where it belonged. With a deep sigh he knew it was time to get up and actually do something. The rain was still coming down hard over the lands, and although they were protected by the trees, they were still getting wet. He got up, stretched his legs out and turned to Jin. "Care to join me for a swim? You and I are already soaked as can be, we might as well just jump in and help nature with their goal of making us completely wet. What say you?" She smiled to her again, beckoning her to join him. He really wanted this. He wanted to play in the water, to roll around and maybe get closer to her in a way that did not force him to get all awkward. He liked Jin. Thus far, she had been so welcoming and warm towards him. She was a beautiful creature and she had been a complete joy to be with. He didn't want his time with her to end, simply because of the weather.

"As is seems, even a king fears the wrath of a scornful mother. Sorry to hear of your father, but she has a right to be worried. Humans do as they please with the lives of others. Whether it be flipping it upside down or ending it all together." Jin was a bit shaken by talking of it, but the feeling soon subsided from the sounds of his laugh. It wasn't every day a king would act like this. Far more playful and laid back than she initially expected and without a doubt, enjoyed.
She smiled at the Akuma's comment on her name, knowing full well not much else could be said of it. Lifting himself from where the pair had been laying, a confused look filled her eyes, initially thinking she'd done or said something wrong, but the feeling was soon replaced by his next words. "Swimming?" Usually, she wouldn't dare. A wet pelt was just uncomfortable and she avoided it when possible, but he had a point. Both already wet from the rain, Jin saw no harm in joining him for a swim in the rain.
Forcing her weight back to her feet, she stretched her front legs out before her, large claws digging into the ground before retreating back into her paws upon standing up. She bumped her side into his in a friendly challenge. "Race you to the water." Jin hardly gave him a moment to respond, hind legs propelling her out into the rain and accords the slick, now muddy ground. Dark mud soon covered her paws and left splatters along her creme underside.
"Never go against your mother's wishes, if you want to live. It's just a bad idea. Who knows though, maybe someday I will be able to go out into the world and see things I have never seen before. It could be a good experience, or it could be the worst in my life." But he didn't want to talk about negative things. As he had gotten up, it seemed that she also wanted to play around. He smiled to her and nodded his head. But before he could get a chance to make it to the water, she had proclaimed to want a race. He was caught off guard. He had not raced anything since he was a cub. He laughed aloud, his voice booming through the lands. It was like a thunder. As he sprinted forward, he could tell that she was fast. Dashing through the mud forced it all the splash up against them both. It was messy. He didn't care. The rain was falling from the sky so of course they would be cleaned off. He rushed forward after her, and instead of making it to the water, he decided to do something else instead. He lunged forward as he was right behind her. He had attempted to tackle her to the ground, right before the water. No claws or teeth were bared, it was merely for fun. He laughed now harder than he had before. If he succeeded in tackling her, he would keep her pinned like that for a while. He would prove he was fun and a great King. As he played with her, he thought about living his life without her in it. Maybe he could convince her to come home with him? If he was able to do that, he would feel so much better about his life.

Jin was focused on reaching the water having not even considered he would lunge at her. Taken in full surprise, the pair went down, skidding in a the mud a good foot, they're pelts coated in the slick substance by now. The smaller framed lion on the bottom, front legs straight out and hind legs stretched out behind. Once the initial shock had worn off, Jin erupted with laughter. She and her sister goofed off from time to time, but it had been such a long time since actually playing with someone.
Jin tried to push him off, but not to escape. Soaked to the bone and covered in muck, wrestling in the mud only seemed natural. Lifting one of her front paws, a mischievous smile spread across her maw. Scooping mud up in the large paw, covering up the marbled pads, she swung her paw around and flung it in his direction, hoping it would hit it's mark.
There was no doubt she enjoyed his company, but his title of king would be what kept her away. No matter how much fun, Jin reminded herself of her first pride and how constricting it was, knowing better than to subject herself to the same life again. The word still bugged her however. A pride was a family and her sister was gone now. Here with this strange male was the first time since arriving that Jin wasn't thinking of her sister Ling.
They slid together, one after the other. He had tried his best to pin her, but as she laughed - he found it infectious. He too started to laugh more than before. This was just too much fun. She tried to push him off, but he put more of his weight down. The only thing that got him up, was the mud flung at his face. It lands right smack on his forehead. It dripped down his features and to the tip of his nose. But luckily the rain was kind enough to wash it out of his eyes. As they sprawled through the muck and the mud, Akuma decided it was time to get into the water. He got off of her and dead sprinted right for the pool. It seemed to go in slow motion as his eyes watched the scene bob slowly up and down from his paws hitting the ground and bouncing back up. His hind paws forced him off the land and he launched himself into the water. As his head went under, his eyes opened and he could see through the clear water. His paws kicked in circular motions to keep himself under the water. When he finally breached, he took a deep breath and opened his eyes. His mane was draped to his head, no longer free and wild as usual. It looked more controlled and solid than before. He turned his head and gave a wide grin towards her. "Jin, you are looking rather dirty over there... you have some dirt on your cheek... and all long your back." He knew she knew it was there, but it was funny to him because he was the reason she was so filthy. It was a ton of fun and he enjoyed the act itself.

Continuing her laugh at the sight of dark mud slicking to his face before washing off the king’s face from the rain. She was almost completely covered in the mud by the time her got off her and dove into the water. Twisting her body to get back to her feet, Jin saw him bob up out of the water, thick mane now clinging to him. She raised a brow at his remark, smirking. “Oh am I now? Hadn’t really noticed.” Rising up, she shook her body, trying to force off some of the larger chunks of mud that clung to the feline’s pelt. Crouching down, she used her hind legs to push off into the air, muscles shifting under the caked-on grime. Nearly slipping on the slick surface, she landed in the water with large splash, form disappearing beneath the torrent of bubbles and mud that washed off. It took a bit, though she popped back up on the surface, grey flecked pelt once again visible.
“Boo.” She yelled, trying to grab onto him in an attempt to startled her new playmate. Water from the rain churned around them, slowly urging the pair further from where they had started. Distracted, Jin didn’t seem to notice too enthralled by the silver eyed male. By the time she would notice it, chances are she’d be even more lost than she already was in the new territory the humans had released her in, but none of that was a current concern to her.
He could not help but to laugh at her. She jumped into the water after him. The splash alone forced the water to get in his face. He continued to laugh. When she surfaced, she grabbed onto him. Her paws pushed down on his shoulders and his head went under. The effort of her push helped his weight force him beneath the surface. He came back up for air and laughed even louder. "That was not very nice..." He grinned as he swim closer to her and pushed her back. He soon swam away from her, and moved for the shore. He climbed out and shook his body left and right, trying to force the water off of his fur. But no matter how hard he tried, the rain continued to fall. Although he could tell it was clearing soon, he wasn't feeling like he should leave just yet. His silver eyes looked up to the storm clouds and he smiled. They raged and soon the thunder and lightning appeared. It crashed through the sky, lighting it up all over the world. He smiled and lowered his chin to look at the lioness. He shook his head once more, and shook out his body. "So since you are a vagabond... What do you see for your future? Will you always choose to live alone?" he was curious what her answer would be. He had heard of lionesses not joining prides, after all, his mother had done that with her closest friends. They only joined the pride because they created it and Akuma was sort of forced to lead it. None of the other males were able to handle the responsibility. If there was something he could do to change her mind, he would do it.
"Never said it was meant to be nice." Jin teased through his laughter. She'd expected him to push her back, not resisting as he easily pushed her around in the water. Her eyes followed his soaked form back to the shore, fur clinging to his form in a bit of a comedic manor compared to his look when they'd first met.
It didn't take much more incentive to follow him to the bank, taken a bit by surprise at his question. Water dripped from her pelt constantly from both the swim and the continuous ran fall, she didn't even bother to shake out her pelt though taking a moment to think before answering. "I'm not really sure what my future holds and I don't travel alone. I hadn't been anyway." The storm raged, the sky above erupting in a dazzling display of lights followed by clasps of thunder. Her ears swiveled to face back, watching a moment. "I suppose it all depends on where my life takes me." She headed back up towards the cover of the trees, a bit more weary with how aggressive the weather had become.
Reaching the more sheltered area, she finally tried to shake out some of the heavy water from her pelt. Her gaze shifted back to him, figuring he'd follow. "Why the interest in my life?"
She was probably as curious as he was, or so he assumed. She liked to ask him questions as he did to her. Though he had many more beneath his paws. "I am only curious. I have only known to live as a family unit. I have never been put on my own - well for long periods of time. Jin, living alone is not what lions do." He looked to her, slightly serious. "If you wanted to be like a leopard, they are rather lonely. Have you had the painful pleasure of meeting Shao'Jin yet? He's a special kind of asshole and looks for trouble anytime he can. Plus, what will you do if a coalition appears? Surely they will try to harm you in one way or the other.." Why was he so concerned about a complete stranger? He tried not to think of it much, and he moved towards her. When he was under the cover of the tree, he sat close to her. "If you ever decide you want something different, just head to the north east, and that will be where you will find me. One the rain clears out, I think it'd be best for me to head back home." He turned his head to look at her, and smiled. "You could come with me tonight and I could show you myself.." He gave a smirk to her, not only flirting, but hoping she might take him up on his offer.
